Soon, their father was in full we’re-going-to-be-late panic mode.
“Shoes, shoes!” he cried. “Get your shoes on. Grab your backpacks. Let’s go!”
Eileen dashed back to her bedroom. “I need something for Sharing,” she said.
“I’ve gotta get my lunchbox,” said Charlotte, running for the kitchen.
“Ahhh!” screamed their father.
